چکیده
In this study, we examine the impact of environmental policies on consumption and pollution emissions in cases full employment stagnant economy using a dynamic optimization model featuring monetary with persistent unemployment. If prevails, such as emission tax public abatement will naturally crowd out commodity production thereby decrease consumption. However, if there is unemployment, stimulate by increasing total mitigating deflation, simultaneously generating additional emissions. Net may eventually increase. We also optimal policy mix. • present secular demand stagnation due to money (or wealth) preference. analyze effect welfare. Under stagnation, increase find mix under stagnation.

Alternative Monetary Policies in a Turnpike Economy*
A version of a Townsend turnpike model is described in which agents stay at a location long enough to trade some consumption loans, but not long enough to support an Arrow-Debreu allocation. Monetary equilibria exist which are non-optimal in the absence of a scheme to pay interest on currency at a particular rate. Paying interest on currency at the optimal rate delivers a Pareto optimal allocat...
متن کاملStabilization Policies in a Growing Economy
In a recent paper,3 Professors Stein and Nagatani (SN) have examined monetary stabilization policies in a full employment nonlinear monetary growth model. Specifically, they try to give a " rigorous answer " to the question of which should be the correct control variable of monetary policy; i.e., money supply growth, interest rates, or some other variable. The model used is of the Keynes-Wickse...
متن کاملEndogenous Trade Policies in a Developing Economy
Consider a small developing economy with a manufacturing sector opened to international trade, and an agricultural sector having limited, not to say any, access to world markets. We modify the Grossman and Helpman’s influence-driven model of trade policy formation to allow for an endogenously determined wage rate in a three-sector economy where the manufacturing sector can lobby policy makers f...
متن کاملWelfare Impacts of Agri-Environmental Policies in an Open Economy: A Numerical General Equilibrium Framework
This paper uses a numerical general equilibrium model to evaluate the welfare impacts of alternative agri-environmental policies in an open economy while recognizing the presence of distortionary agricultural support subsidies and factor income taxes. In this context, the paper indicates that a revenue-neutral budget reform, which cuts all distortionary agricultural support subsidies and pays r...
متن کاملEnvironmental Policy and Directed Technical Change in a Global Economy: The Dynamic Impact of Unilateral Environmental Policies
This paper builds a two-country (North, South), two-sector (polluting, nonpolluting) trade model with directed technical change, examining whether unilateral environmental policies can ensure sustainable growth. The polluting good is produced with a clean and a dirty input. A temporary Northern policy combining clean research subsidies and a trade tax can ensure sustainable growth but Northern ...
